Trauma
This overwhelming BEAST that doesn't ask for permission to show up.
You cant always choose which emotions you want to feel. Healing from trauma can create freedom and space to feel the emotions you want to feel now.
I use Inner Child Work, IFS, EFIT, Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma work.
Have you ever heard that your body keeps the score of trauma. This means the trauma you experince is held in your body. Usually people learn to detach from the physical body by finding distractions and telling yourself "everything is fine" or "I cant change the past, so move on".
This can work for a time, until all of a sudden you have a panic attack or cant get out of bed and have no idea why.
Healing from trauma is about exploring triggers, emotions, and beliefs you have about the trauma or a distressing event.
Therapy helps you explore memories from the trauma using guided therapy to help heal physical responses and emotional ways you respond to memories of the trauma.
Self Worth/Self Esteem/Shame
Self Love
There is a big difference between self esteem and self worth/self love. There is a set of checklist items we use to navigate whether we are good or bad about how others see us and as we see our own self.
How do you become grounded in life when your told to know what you need and want, but where do you even begin to figure out where to start that process. Too Big and vague- Journal, pick up a hobby, etc. These usually fall a little flat!
I will explore core values and ways to increase living in a more authentic and genuine way being yourself.
Shame and Guilt
Most of us dont really understand self compassion. There is a big diiferece between shame and guilt. Shame will keep you stuck and feeling bad about yourself. Guilt allows you to learn and grow form a mistake.
It is easy to get lost in perfectionism, live with fear driving our decisions, spending time managing everyone else to feel some amount of control, and never really understanding who we are on the outside of having a talent or this is my favorite food. Learning who you are as a person can heal and let shame go.
Many people only know how to create motivation to be better and move forward in life from a place of criticizing self and shame. I work to help you change the shame game.
Anxiety
Fears can run your entire life. I dont' believe all anxiety is bad. There can be a purpose for it when your needing to see a danger or listen to your instincts telling you something is off and to look at it. However, anxiety can range from a little uneasy stomach roll to a full blown panic attack.
I will help you find ways to understand your main fears. You will learn to identify and self regulate emotions. You can learn how to stop judging and controlling what you feel and use acceptance. I want you to feel more grounded inside, even if the world is in chaos around you. You cant control everything, but you can work on having better control over what you do with it.
